The majestic Mayon Volcano has always been a popular tourist attraction when one visits the Bicol Region. But during Super Typhoon Goni, a lahar filled sludge came barelling down the mountain damaging many surrounding communities and submerging most of the town of Guinobatan.
Pastor Renante Bareja, the Adventist Community Services Director for Southern Luzon Mission, visited the area yesterday.
In the video, he is able to show just how close the town was to the Mayon Volcano, the recovery efforts still going on, and he was also able to interview one of the residents who was fortunate enough to be evacuated before the storm hit. We say fortunate because some of her neighbors did not evacuate, and were buried under the lahar.
