Training on Fundamentals of Cooperative, Cooperative Management and Governance and Cooperative Assessment and Information System (CAIS) Workshop

ILO-ILO Philippines – The Responsible Investment and Shared Empowerment (RISE VisMin) Project conducted the training of our Cooperative Partners in Ilo-Ilo. The training was on Fundamentals of Cooperative, Cooperative Management and Governance and Cooperative Assessment and Information System (CAIS) Workshop held at West Visayas State University – Pototan Campus, Pototan, Iloilo, on March 7-8, 2024. Our five registered cooperatives in Iloilo representing the sectors of women, farmers, and entrepreneurs attended the event.

The objective of the Cooperative Assessment and Information System (CAIS) workshop was to provide technical assistance to help cooperatives comply with their deficiencies, inspection findings, and other issues encountered by micro cooperatives, especially those who are newly registered. As to the Fundamentals of Cooperative, this training covers the fundamental knowledge of cooperatives that all coop officers should have.

As to the Management and Governance Cooperative, this training is designed to enhance the understanding of the Board of Directors and the General Manager in the practice of good governance and management in the cooperative, thereby enabling them to contribute to the effective operation of the cooperative as an economic and social enterprise. The event’s leading speakers were Mr. Mark Glenn Sulam and Ms. Ann Marie Castor, Representatives from the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region 6.

This training is one of the objectives of the RISE VisMin Project, which provides technical support to our cooperative partners since they have attained legal personality. This will guide them in governing their respective cooperatives efficiently and effectively for the benefit of their members and the local communities in which they operate.
