ADRA Philippines conducted a Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training of Trainers (TOT) for the faculty and staff of Mindanao Mission Academy in preparation for the upcoming academic year. The initiative aimed to strengthen the capacity of educators and school personnel to provide immediate emotional and psychosocial support to individuals experiencing stress or distress.
The training emphasized that Psychological First Aid is not limited to emergency or disaster contexts. It is equally essential in everyday environments such as schools, workplaces, and communities, where individuals may encounter challenges related to stress, grief, anxiety, and other emotional difficulties. By equipping participants with practical skills and responsive approaches, the program supports the creation of safer and more caring spaces for learning and development.
Through this capacity-building activity, teachers and staff are better prepared to respond with empathy, listen actively, and provide appropriate support when learners or colleagues face emotional challenges. This contributes to building stronger school communities that prioritize well-being, resilience, and mutual care.
As the new academic year begins, this initiative serves as a meaningful step toward fostering a more compassionate and supportive learning environment for both students and educators.
ADRA Philippines also extends its sincere appreciation to the South Philippine Union Conference Education Department for their continued support in advancing initiatives that strengthen care, preparedness, and well-being within educational institutions.
