We could barely stand, and at one point, we almost crawled our way to safety. There are only three of us in the family β€” my husband, myself, and our youngest child. That night, my youngest had gone out to do a referee stint for a basketball game in the nearby gymnasium. When word broke out that the gym where my son was had collapsed because of the massive quake, we had no news about him throughout the night. I already had a feeling growing inside me because he still hadn’t come home. When we were told that retrieval operations would begin in the morning, I already knew. It was really painful β€” because who would have thought that those who remained in the middle of the gym were safe, while those who tried to escape, including my son, lost their lives. After the quake and what happened to my son, we could barely sleep. The longing and grief weighed on us constantly, and my husband and I would find ourselves gazing at his picture again and again.I am glad to be able to join an activity like this (PFA) where I get to share my feelings with others, and it helps." We pray for families like Gemma’s, whose lives were forever changed by the quake. May they find comfort, strength, and hope in the days ahead. ADRA continues to stand with the people of Cebu Province. πŸ’š#ADRAResponds #ADRAPhilippines ... See MoreSee Less
