Project TOGETHER, partners with CBSU Agriculture

Project TOGETHER, in partnership with Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, held a training and action planning session for the establishment of a Community-based Seedbank, Bayanihang Pagbibinhi sa Barangay (BANHI), in 6 barangays in Buhi, Caramoan, and Garchitorena.
The activity, held in CBSUA, San Jose, Pili, was attended by barangay officials, teachers, representatives from farmers’ organizations and Municipal Agriculture Offices, and community partners of TOGETHER, mostly comprised of women.
Training sessions were conducted on various important aspects of sustainable agriculture, such as bio-intensive gardening, vermicomposting, nursery management, seed care and storage, and different planting techniques. The participants also engaged in an action planning session aimed at developing strategies to promote accessible seed resources in their respective communities.
The goal of these activities was to equip participants with the thorough knowledge and hands-on skills necessary for setting up and ensuring the long-term success of BANHI.
BANHI is part of the efforts of ADRA and Global Affairs Canada, with the support of CBSUA, to address the practical needs of community members, especially women and the youth, so that they can better enjoy their rights to health and a life free from violence.
