ICBDRRM Rollout Training in Tuba, Benguet

The Inclusive Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Rollout Training in Tuba, Benguet

Formally ended on Friday, November 29, 2024. Community leaders and barangay personnel from across the municipality have attended the 3-day training, marking a pivotal step in strengthening resilience against disasters in the area. 

The training was facilitated by the project’s Civil Society Organization (CSO) Champions, Ms. Menisa Tomilas, Ms. Flora Afuyog, and Ms. Norma Waguis from Camp 4 Women’s Community Livelihood Association, Ms. Jonahlyn Tomayan and Elmera Bayec from Women-in-Water Rural Improvement Club, and  Ms. Myrna Valeriano from the Aduyon and Organic Farmers’ Association (AOFA).

The training aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills in disaster risk reduction, focusing on inclusivity and community-driven solutions. The participants engaged in various workshops and practical exercises on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, who play a vital role in facilitating disaster management initiatives at the grassroots level. 

Through the ICBDRRM framework, the training emphasized the importance of gender-responsive DRRM planning and initiatives while integrating local knowledge, ensuring the participation of vulnerable groups, and fostering partnerships between government agencies, NGOs, and local communities. The training has also provided an opportunity for participants to share best practices and discuss challenges they face in disaster management.

The event concluded with a commitment from all involved to continue promoting disaster-resilient communities in Tuba.
