In partnership with the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), ADRA Philippines officially opened the Bayanihang Pagbibibinhi sa Barangay (BANHI) in the barangays of Cabatuan and Monte Calvario in Buhi, Camarines Sur.
BANHI is a program of Project TOGETHER that aims to help communities have access to seeds or vegetable crops to improve food security in the community. BANHI also aims to be a source of nutritious food and reduce malnutrition in Buhi, especially among children under five years of age. The main components of BANHI are Vermicomposting. Seed Banking, Organic Vegetable Garden, and Nursery Establishment.
To ensure the sustainable operation of BANHI, ADRA also provided various gardening tools such as shovels, hoeing machines, and others. CBSUA is open to providing technical assistance to further improve the capacity of barangay officials in agriculture, disaster risk reduction, and other services.
Aside from Cabatuan and Monte Calvario in Buhi, BANHI has also been opened in selected areas in other TOGETHER towns.
